FTTH (Fiber to the Home) Explained

FTTH (Fiber to the Home) refers to the direct installation of fiber-optic cables all the way to the end user’s apartment or home. Unlike other technologies, the fiber-optic line does not end at a distribution box or in the basement, but extends all the way to the building access point (HÜP) and on to the fiber-optic subscriber connection (GF-TA) inside the residence. This ensures a fully fiber-optic connection with no copper components, enabling the highest transmission rates and stability.

FTTH Compared to Other Technologies

While with FTTB (Fiber to the Building) the fiber-optic cable ends inside the building and the final meters are carried over copper cables, FTTH runs the fiber-optic cable directly into the home. This eliminates the typical bottlenecks and interference that can occur with copper-based connections. FTTH thus offers the highest performance among FTTx technologies.
