Grid Level 4 (NE4) refers to the high-voltage grid, which typically operates at a voltage level of 110 kV. It connects the supraregional extra-high-voltage grid (Grid Level 2) with the regional distribution grids of Grid Level 5, thereby playing a crucial role in ensuring a safe and reliable electricity supply.

What does NE4 encompass?

NE4 begins at the substations where electrical energy from the extra-high-voltage grid is stepped up to the high-voltage level. From there, the electricity is transported via high-voltage transmission lines to other substations, where the voltage is then stepped down to lower voltage levels for regional distribution. This infrastructure ensures that electrical energy is delivered reliably and efficiently to the regional service areas.
